Re: dental bridge with paladium with amalgam under the crowns.

1.  Get the mercury removed.  That means the bridge needs replaced.  It never should have been put over amalgam.

2.  Are you sure of the composition of this bridge?  Did you special order it?  Are you sure it is not stainless steel?  Is the whole thing metal or what?

3.  All mercury fillings leak.

4.  The metal taste in your mouth is coming from metals.

5.  No, it will not weaken the anchor teeth to replace the bridge.  Anytime you drill or disturb any teeth, they can die, but the bridge needs replaced.  The benefits outweigh the risks in this case.

6.  About the bridge needing metal for strength.  Yes, it is best to get porcelain over gold or zirconium over gold.  Gold is very compatible with humans.  If you are concerned, you could get a biocompatibility test.  BUT, there are many Dentists who believe they can place a non-metal bridge that will be strong enough to work well.  Some people just don't want metal and some cannot tolerate gold, so there is that option.  What I tell patients is that if they want non-metal for biting teeth, then they have to be aware they are not as strong and could break.  I recommend DiamondCrown for your bridge. 

7.  Go to a Biologic Dentist, you have a better chance of getting the least toxic materials.

8.  I really cannot advise about the iodine.  As long as it is not a chelator of mercury, you should be fine.  I don't think it is, at least not directly, anyway.
