I think if the President would have said, we
have 24 hours to empty the city because the
levees will not hold, Americans would have helped
empty that city. I think there would have been
places, but it would have taken leadership
and courage which there was a shortage of, and
later, lots of passing the buck.

Of course the buck stopped in Bush's pocket.
Why do the right thing when you can get away
with the wrong thing...grumble grumble.

If this article is accurate, the government had
a responsibility to save lives and if the fault lay
with the levees, the responsibility to treat them
in accordance with the law.

I loved NO but also will never go back. The mold
factor would be a risk I am not comfortable with.

My understanding is the shelf which the city rests
on is also deteriorating and it is just a matter of
time, within our lifetime, that it may just slip off
into the ocean. That is reason enough not to rebuild
there...I do not know what to do, but do feel what
was done was not enough...
