Pantothenic acid, ACCUTANE, diet,
I have been using Pantothenic Acid for one week and I have already noticed less oil on my skin, less inflammation of my exsisting pimples and less new pimples. The thing is, my
Acne is not that bad. I break out a few times a month, in 5 or six large pimples and I usually have 2 or 3 at all times, also, I get small ones on my back and chest. My back is SO DRY from taking the B5, its worse than when I was on Accutane (accutane cleared up my cystic acne, now I have the regular kind.) I have been very thirsty this week, especially the first two days. My stomach was also in trouble for the first 4 days, and I had bad headaches but then it got better, and I am on a very high dosage...23 grams a day! I have read a lot about B5 and I am willing to suffer for a few days, drink a lot of water and swallow fistfuls of pills to clear up the acne. I AM DRINKING A GALLON OF WATER OR MORE EACH DAY. Honestly, I think the fact that my body is getting so much water might be clearing toxins from my system. Also, I lost some weight, with no changes in my diet. B5 definetely has an effect on sebum production but when other factors are contributing to the
Acne or when the skin is extremely oily as is often the case with severe acne, pantothenic acid could be a bigger pain in the ya ya than accutane. I read that it could take a year to correct severe
Acne with B5, and if scars are forming, you don't have that kind of time!! Severe acne hardly ever clears up with vitamins or a little garlic. Get that Accutane! And if your doctor gives you a puny 20 or forty mg's- ask them why so low! Accutane is expensive and HMO's don't heartliy reward doctors for being generous with the accutane. But if you have "teen skin" as I now do at 21, try the B5, and read up on it, its interesting. Also, it is obvious that vitamins and nutrients in general effect the skin, so a diet rich in fruits and vegatables, (the rawer the better) and low in fats and
Sugar is the most skin friendly.
Sugar uses up your B vitamins and animal fat makes your skin oilier. But the bottom line is, what helps pevent breakouts in "acne prone" individuals will probably not clear severe acne. If you want to wage war on severe acne, Accutane's the best stuff. DO YOUR READING. There are ways to avoid the possible side effects of accutane (read: more supplements) and they're all on the web. I'll try to post a few tommorrow.
