not sure it is unsafe but after the sticky rice or long grain white rice cools down we just leave it on the counter in a bamboo rice container.It stays cool and it keeps it ready when time to eat,we then wrap it in siran wrap and microwave it in order to soften it again.Generaly my folks do just leave it in room temps then heat it up when ready to eat.White long grain rice we keep in the fridge,sticky rice seems to harden in the fridge.I am just done with rice..I have had a pretty rough two days soo far.It's kinda crazy that I grew up eating rice prepared and served in this fashion and I have had a host of health problems growing up,too bad it took this long to figure it out..
