I believe that the wisest thing for you is to back down, if it was me I'd probably start at most at the previous lower dosage you were in and see how you do for a day or two. I'm sure I read somewhere that the tooth pain was caused by iodine increasing the need for Vit. D so keep that in mind and get a supplement, really cheap anyway (or get out in the sun). Kidney pain is not good, it may mean too many things are trying to get out at the same time and the kidneys can't handle the load so rest a while and get yourself some kidney support herbs/tea (corn silk, celery seeds, parsley, watermelon seeds) and make sure you keep up with the companion supplements (selenium, buffered C only. etc.) and plenty of water. At Earthclinic.com someone said something that made sense to me, he observed that when detoxing one should not take iodine continuously but rest a few days in between to allow the body time to get the stuff out and the suggestion was to take the iodine 4 days on and rest 4 days. At the Yahoo Iodine group someone else mentioned resting on the "7th day" (which to us Bible believers makes sense). I did this and had no complaints except feeling too tired so I decided to do the 4 days on/off but then another unpleasant symptom appeared on the 2nd day, I had trouble falling asleep and I had minor palpitations - I think in the absence of iodine the magnesium I was taking was too much. Anyway, I couldn't wait to get back on iodine and a soon as I did that feeling went away so I think I will be sticking with the 7th day plan.
I do have a question: how long have you been at your highest dosage? I just bought Dr. Brownstein's book and he mentions that it takes from 3-6 months at 50 mg. (for most people, cancer patients usually start right out at 100 mg. and probably go higher) to complete detoxing, it logically follows that those of us who are constantly exposed to halides and/or heavy metals may need to be at the higher dosage longer and when we begin to scale down still remain at a higher than average amount.
