Re: Is this schizophrenia or some form of it?

-regarding....."mercury poisoning, candida and other issues having the ability to alter the way the mind works and causing many symptoms that could be associated with mental illnesses." Most people even physicians believed that emotional upsets cause GI (gastrointestinal) problems. Most biochemical evidence suggest that this logic is backwards... it is problems with the GI tract that cause changes in brain physiology. an eg. of the Gut-Brain connection.

Looking at the biochemical pathway of serotonin synthesis

Tryptophan

5-HTP

Serotonin

N-Acetyl-Serotonin

Melatonin

Vit, B3,B6, and folic acid and the mineral iron are required cofactors to adequately synthesize serotonin. Most of the same neurotransmitters that are in the brain are also in the gut. When there are problems with the gut… then that is were the neurotransmitters will get used up and will not make it to the brain.

…..serotonin is involve with inflammation cascades, therefore things like Candida, parasites, IBS, etc. can make us serotonin deficient. If we have optimal serotonin production they we can become emotionally relaxed. Deficiencies are associated with irritability, anxiety, excessive worry,/depression, sociopathy, violence, ADHD, and addictions.

And yes, like you said mercury and other heavy metal toxicities prevent synthesis of neurotransmitters. If vit. B6 is not present along with vit. C in adequate amounts that too will prevent the conversion from tryptophan…Serotonin…..and the final (if it is nighttime) Melatonin.

Stress depletes us of our stress coping hormones/neurotransmitters and we need to be replenished with amino acids from our foods or supplements.

Sorry, I don’t mean to get carried away and go on and on

One last thing...I just read that if a person has an excess amount of dopamine then they can show signs of Paranoia schizophrenia??? That’s it I don’t know any thing else specifically regarding Paranoia schizophrenia . I just happened to stumble across that last bit of info.

Hope you you find what you need for your friend
