What sort of blood test was done? I see doctors ordering inappropriate IgM test frequently which will very often show as negative even with people who have had herpes for a long time the reason is that IgM antibodies are the first-responder antibodies which fade out to be replaced by the long-term IgG antibodies.

Second - How were you diagnosed with HSV1 back then? Type specific culture or visual diagnosis?

third - Have you had recurrences since then?
