Re: Anyone else have die-off doing diet alone?

Yes!! In fact, the diet is the main way to heal from candida because it doesn't just cut off candida's main food supply, it also is helping your immune system and other healing take place (which is the main weapon against candida).

If you give your body what it needs and remove the foods that feed yeast, then your body will try to heal. Die off does indeed occur from diet alone and again is your main weapon against candida. In fact, it is often recommended that people do not even START antifungals until they have been on the diet for about 6 months. And antifungals are an aid, not an means to an end. They simply help the process of killing yeast but used too early on they can overwhelm you too much.

So it is normal to feel worse for wear during the first few weeks (or more) of a candida diet. As healing is taking place, your body will feel very tired, groggy/drugged, maybe headaches, dizziness, nausea, anything can worsen or appear during this time, even flare ups of thrush and anal itching can occur. You may feel like going to sleep during the day etc. It is not usually a pleasant experience and healing from candida apparently is not an upward climb. It is up and down and unpredictable.

The main thing is to stick with the programme on not cheat. Cheating usually causes a relapse and forces you to start from scratch (particularly if you have other issues going as well as yeast). Don't be in a hurry to start antifungals, the diet plus natural food antifungals like garlic, onions, coconut oil are more than adequate to give your body what it needs to heal from this condition.
