I find this whole subject extremely frustrating. The media puts such amazing pressure on women inparticular to look a certain way. Todays society is so hung up on appearances and a persons natural beauty is given very little attention. I have heard people on this forum say that they never wear make-up and I applaud them for that. I am not that strong as yet. I have been wearing cosmetics daily for 30 years. I am very vein, I know that. But society has taught me that if I want to get anywhere in this world, I need to look my best. I have gotten jobs that I wouldn't have gotten had I looked differently than I do. I have had experiences and opportunities that I wouldn't have gotten had I looked differently than I do. It's not right, but it is how things are. And as I get older I learn to care less about appearance, but the pressure is still there.
Watch enough television, read enough magazines and you will understand the pressure that is being placed on women to conform to someone's else's standard of what's beautiful.
