Re: What kind of fast?
I did 48 days of MC, then on to day 60 with fresh juices. Fasting on juices (including the Master Cleanse, which is a mono juice fast) allow me to continue me regular routine, work etc. with a good level of energy. Juices also protect our vital organs (kidneys, liver, heart etc.). I have always done extra long (30, 60 days) fasts with the supervision of my excellent naturopath, and have been grateful to have her support during heavy crises (I passed a kidney calcificiation on day 18 of that 60 day epic, a crisis that lasted a week). The recommendation to do long fasts with pro supervision is a good one in my experience.
I was doing industrial strength colon cleansing for over four years, finally attaining my Big Goal, turning 50 with a clean pink colon! Yes, I lost quite a bit of weight (around 35
pounds post fast), and yes, I kept it off by eating sensibly and continuing my exercise program.
Particularly for weight loss, long term
Water Fasting can be hazardous. Nothing stores toxins like fat, and when it is burned quickly it is dumped into the colon, liver etc. for removal from the body, causing some serious toxic crises. Particularly things like ddt, which are definitely stored in fat, can cause problems. Be sure to keep your colon very clean every fasting day, and don't skimp on your water consumption! Consider switching to juices. Your weight loss will be about the same, and the nutrients in fresh juices will protect your health. As an added benefit you will have the energy to exercise, which helps you to burn toxins while losing even more weight!
A lot has been said about fasting and weight loss. Fasting can definitely kick start a weight loss program, but is no silver bullet. Any and all weight lost can be regained PLUS if you do not plan a sensible eating and exercise program and stick with it. The ONLY true weight loss program is very simple: take in less calories than you burn! It really works!
Be well,
