Re: What is abuse? What isn't abuse?

I agree with most everything in the above text.

However, there is something VERY important to add or perhaps change:

Whether abuse is deliberate or not, it is still abuse. An alcoholic has no intention of ruining the whole family; he just loves the "joy" of consuming alcohol. This does not make him/her any less abusive. Nor the fact that s/he may not remember later what happened makes those abusive actions any less painfull or not "abusive".

Also, most emotional abuse is undetected and confused with "arguing", "opinions" or just "helping".

This is probably the most important for everyone to learn: detect when whatever is going on is abuse even if it was not intentional, even when it is hiding behind good intentions, and even when the person doing it is not aware that it is abuse.

A book can be written about hidden and unintentional abuse which is the most damaging type of abuse.
