Re: Rokybird & Reb32 Re: Amalgam left in Wisdom Tooth-Please help me decide what to do?
Vivadent is not a dental material, it is the name of a company. Vivadent makes Empress porcelain (and other dental materials too).
The Cerec Porcelains are made by a company called Sirona (they make other dental materials also).
I would not remove your wisdom tooth. If it's ok, please leave it alone. There are people who have tooth extractions that can end up with cavitations (jawbone infections). Cavitations can occur when the bone in the jaw has not healed over thoroughly and the hole left over can contain potent bacteria, which can then in some cases become systemic and cause EXTREMELY bad sickness (even worse than mercury toxicity). It's better to leave wisdom teeth alone, unless one HAS to have it removed. If the person has to do that, they need to get it removed by a biologic dentist who understands all these kinds of things and will remove the tooth properly by removing the periodontal ligament afterwards, instead of leaving it behind like many dentists do (which can be the cause of cavitations). Also vaso constrictors in local anaesthetics are another problem. They work to increase the numbing to the area and shut off more blood flow. HOwever in doing that, it can also frustrate the healing process, which can be yet another cause or contributing factor to cavitations.
So I'd leave your tooth as it is! and if it were me? I would get the
Amalgam completely removed and replaced with the same material you have in the rest of your other teeth.
I would instead get the filling completely removed and replaced with the same product you have in your other teeth (if you feel it's been ok with you so far?).
As for which dentist? I don't know about that one. The dentist who left the filling should fix his mistake free of charge, but then do you trust him?
