moreless? iron poor soil

I live in AZ, with very alkaline soil. Through composting, it's pretty good now. But I continually have to add iron to the soil. The container is small and expensive. Is there another way to add iron? I know this is a problem because the leaves turn yellow, with green veins. Any suggestions?  riverrat
