I wanted to share a tidbit of the stories my elders
told us about hill folk communicating. They had a system
worked out in the Ozarks, and by "hootin' and hollarin'"
each family had codes and from ridge to ridge could
easily pass information, "send a doctor", "so-n-so
had their baby"...they had a much more sophisticated
system than I have certainly read about. Each family had
their own unique signal so would know to answer back
or if the relay were for them...everyone cooperated and
passed the messages back and forth too.
I am glad you enjoyed the time line as much as I hoped
you would~~ :)
