Yes, you are correct, although it is in the same family
and came under the same umbrella. For example, an old man
was found with a jar of hemp seed and jailed under
the same laws banning marijuana. Years ago stores were
afraid to carry hemp products and only with great effort
were hemp products able to make a resurgence. Hemp oil
is superior as a good plant oil so I am very happy for
that progress. We now see clothing and many products which
are hemp based...

Marijuana has been proven to have many medical applications
but even though individual states have approved its use,
it is still illegal according to the federal government so
you sure would not want it growing in your garden when Uncle
Sam comes to call...

I have seen lots of wild hemp when I was younger and was
told by the old timers it was just left from times when it
was grown. No one was growing it though for fear of the
government.
