God doesn't want us to love because of a "command".

Love cannot be made a LAW, rule or "command" (love cannot be legislated). It definitely is a REQUIREMENT for a DEVOTION (personal relationship). It certainly is also a requirement for truly accepting Jesus as Savior. Everyone can claim Jesus as Savior, but if they simply KNOW who the Savior is and place faith (trust) in Him, but have not love (faith should be borne out of love), they only worship Him with their lips.

Traditional teaching separates Father, Son, and Holy Spirit with a clear distinction, but for some people (personal choice, depth of heart), LOVE means that all three are one (regardless of all wisdom and knowledge that the traditional teaching teach us). Jesus does not replace my love for The Father or The Father's spirit, neither are they different. Jesus was only ONE of the manifestations (dispensations) of The Father. The Father's spirit is the third manifestation of His grace to humanity.

The Father- Creation.
Jesus- Purification of our soul (salvation).
The Father's spirit- Purification of our conscience.

When we are taught that Jesus should be the focus of our devotion, shall our hearts put The Father "on the back burner"? (some seem to do that and forget all about His creative work). The Father sent us Jesus (the sacrifice for "sin"). Shall we be ungrateful that The Father also blessed humanity with His living spirit (qualities/character attributes)?

It is the depth of each person's heart that determines whether we simply worship with our lips or truly have a PERSONAL relationship with God.

There is no record of Enoch, Noah, Job, etc. having a list of commandments or morals, but faith ALONE did not win them favor with God, it was the depth of their hearts (THEIR own sense of love).

God's WISH/desire that I be peaceful and gentle shall be honored, "command" or not).
You can simply base your devotion on the fact that "God chose us" (it does say that in scripture) or you may wish to base your devotion on the fact (if true) that you chose Him. Do you think God will resent the fact that you chose Him? Do you think God will resent you for having no regard for THE BELIEF that we are commanded to love Him?
