Re: Black Walnut + Iodine - NOT

there was a Black-Walnut tree in my back yard growing up. when the walnuts fell, they would be green and hard. however, after laying on the ground for a couple weeks, they get soft and mushy. at that point you can then pick them up and throw them at a building and it will leave an Iodine colored stain. trust me, i have done this many many times.

i live in a medium sized midwest town right now. there are three Black-Walnut trees in my neighborhood. they are not that rare. perhaps the owners are unaware of the dollar value of the trees. i dont plan on telling them.

Antiseptic and healing properties are attributed to Black-Walnut extract by the organic iodine, which is present in the green husk of the walnut fruit. The proof of the high content of organic Iodine is in the brown stains that are visible with the naked eye.
