the next highest kelp variety in Iodine content is ascophyllum nodosum. the "now" brand of kelp uses this species. this species can contain between .3% and .8% of Iodine per dry weight.

Having worked in the health industry for longer than I care to admit, the Now brand of "anything" is truly suspect with regards to quality and integrity of raw materials.
There is a reason why the Now company can engage in undercutting nearly every single other supplement brand yet still maintain profitability. Consider well when purchasing the Now brand. We in the industry know well of its inferior gradations of raw materials. Case in point, their kelp. It claims to be Norwegian, yet...well, suffice it to say - only a certain percentage of it needs to be the true cold water Norwegian kelp in order for a company to 'claim' that it's authentic cold water Norwegian - if you grok.
