Re: Fasting to heal eczema
Dear Murdock,
May I ask what happened during your trip that may have triggered a recurrence after you returned? Stress is a defintie factor.
I never really explored how stress led to eczema. From what I understand about stress is that to the body, it is perceived as a "flight and fight" case which results in the feedback-overriding secretion of Adrenocorticotropins from the anterior pituary gland. The peptide travels in the bloodstream to the zona fasiculata cells of the adrenal medulla to stimulate secrete of mineralocorticosteroids, the chief hormone being cortisol. Cortisol has an anti-inflammatory effect. Pardon my medical chatter (result of being a medical student), but I cannot yet see a link. Maybe we could check it up. lol
Anyway, stress induces multiple effects in the body, affecting almost every cell via the autonomic nervous system and hormones. Stress increases heart rate and contractility via the sympathetics and this increases blood pressure and blood flow, pushing open dormant microcapillaries at the surface of the skin. This causes the flushing and heat. Heat, for reasons I do not know, causes itching and discomfort. Perhaps it has something to do with a temporarily hyperactivated immune system or increased secretion of plasma proteins or increased rate of reaction between antigens and antibodies that further spell inflammation....
If you know anything about stress, it will be a delight to learn.
Sorry for digressing, regarding your hand being sensitive to the cold, I am unfamiliar as everybody's eczema is unique, but I have a friend in UK complaning about this problem too. My advice is keep them warm, stay out of the cold as much as possible, apply some healing oil and do a cleanse. Eczema's root is dirty blood.
I can tell you are doing many cleanses and the lack of visible results may be hampering you. Hey, push on! While cleanses are herbal supplements to aid the clean-up process of the body, remember that if you still consume food, you are welcoming in potential danger. Food is not the danger, but they can be, because of other underlying conditions ie leaky gut syndrome, hypothyroidism, poor liver function. Do you have constipation? If you do, probiotics will help. Avoid dairy, white rice, beans, processed foods (mucus-prodcing foods). For hypothyroidism, you can look up for general symptoms ie. low energy, edema, constipation, depression, dry rough skin etc. Reflexology and aroma therapy may be helpful.
While there are an assortment of treatments, when I look from a global perspective, I still zero in on one important fact: eczema's root is dirty blood. As fuel is to engines, so is blood to our bodies. With an intoxicated body and a whacked elimination ability of our body, every cell, tissue, organ, system shifts out of balance. To get it in balance is to find a method that does the reverse, as simple as that.
That is why I put my hopes in fasting. In layman's terms, it eliminates potential danger from intake and channels energy for the armies of spring-cleaning where old dying diseased cells die, allowing new life to spring forth.
I know personally how trying this crazy disease is. And what "reliable" doctors know are in fact limited and flawed. Take to heart that you are on the right track. Needing some refinement (eg a more intensive cleansing or elimination for food for a period of time) and lots of perseverance and optimism. I really want to cure this permanently and live a happy long disease-free life. Don't you? This is one of the manyreasons I got in medicine--to get to the bottom of restoring my own health.
On your second question about oil pulling, I am amazed of the technique. It is unknown to me. It is surely awesome to learn and share ideas. Physiologically, it does make a whole lot of sense. But that would require more reading for understanding. Personally, I think there is no harm trying this non-invasive method of detoxification. I think I should too.
Lots of love.
