God gave me AA... and AA gave me God... lol... ;-)
if i wake up sucking air tomorrow... (2/4/07)
i will be able to celebrate 15 years of continuous/contiguous sobriety...
to me 15 years is something totally awesome...
that would be...
5,475 days without a drink... (15x365=5475)
which would be...
131,400 hours without a drink...(5475x24=131400)
which is...
7,884,000 minutes without a drink...(131400x60=7884000)
which comes down to...
473,040,000 seconds without a drink...(7884000x60=473040000)
like i said already... awesome to think about for an alcoholic like me...
(but then again... my mother lived her whole life without drinking... don't think i ever gave it a second thought)... guess it just goes to prove some of my insanities still remain...
lol...
;-)
i sometimes wonder how much longer i might have continued to suck air had i not found AA... my two best drinking buddies died shortly after i began going to AA meetings... so i can only imagine that i wouldn't have fared much better than they did... but the point is that i really didn't have a life... and didn't start living until i started going to meetings and working the program of "Alcoholics Anonymous"... which gave me a way of life that surpassed anything that i had ever known... sobriety is more than just not drinking... it's all about "Self" discovery... about "freedom from the bondage of 'self'... of discovering a totally new way of living... living the way God intended us to live... "happy... joyous... and free"...
"it's a wonderful day in the neighborhood"...
lol...
