So, would you suggest trying the UltraPulse from EmPeeGee to start out with for a new Beck person like me (as opposed to the Sota, the Scada or the Klemens)?

The only equipment endorsed by Beck was Sota. I haven't used any of the others. If you want to experiment be sure to get one with a strong DC Pulse released through a 2.5 mH coil as Beck advised.
