Re: Random thoughts day 2
Hi Tony,
Yes, I agree full heartedly. People are amazed at what I do and say they can't conceive of staying on the cleanse...but it's really not that hard. I find it MUCH harder to be moderate or change day to day habits afterwards. I've been making some progress but it is gradual, like a snail walking through tar to get to the other side!
My thoughts are to start with a mostly raw diet (I did this for 2 weeks after the soup part of my last break), then as you add things back in, find healthy meals that are good & convenient enough for you to make them a regular staple. Eat those several times a week even as you ease back into your diet and already you've made a change. I think a drastic change tends to not stick and you'll at least want to play with your old diet habits which means some of them will come back so I now focus on adding staples. If you have several new healthy staples taking up 4-5 meals a week, that's 4-5 meals less of unhealthy old meals. It's just one way of thinking about it that may help. Another thing I do when really trying to make a change is reading a good diet book with healthy advice (not a fad diet book - one that's more on natural foods and lifestyle change). It just helps motivate me because I suppose the several hours reading is several house where my mind is geared to think about healthy eating and the effect of eating on me physically. I like Fit For Life and The Longevity Diet.
There's a thread on the previous page between myself and Confoundry with some other ideas. Good luck on your journey and much health to you!
