Content is NOT the issue.
As for the comment on education, that makes sense when we consider the possible content of an 'education'.
Sorry, but I can’t let that slide. Content is NOT the issue.
Our education system is set up for people who can remember a lot of worthless detail data.
Non Cognitives simply memorize more useless information without having the ability to formulate a useful construct.
Geniuses’ can do both, retain detail data and place it within a useful construct.
People who spell well may not be good writers, in fact, they may be very bad writers. Why? Because it takes higher order thinking.
For a lot of people, the ability to “not” spell well indicates a higher order of thinking ability.
Bet you never head that before.
Have you ever tried that test where you count the number of the letter e’s in a paragraph?
For a high order Cognitive (non genius) it will be impossible to count the e’s.
The mind “blinds” the Cognitive because it’s looking for a structure or meaning from the words.
A non Cognitive will be able to count most if not all the e’s plus tell you what I’s weren’t dotted and which t’s weren’t crossed.
Oh, isn’t that such valuable information to know!
But they may entirely skip the meaning or content of the paragraph!
How many times have you seen a debate digress to where the person who was losing the debate comes up with “You can’t spell X therefore you can’t think and therefore you must be wrong” nonsense.
Hate to say, but usually I throw the person away who comes up with spelling on a forum (think communication).
If they can’t get around the fact, that a forum is about communication of concepts, needs, help etc.
How useful are they really going to be other than to parrot information they were given?
And because they don’t have a structure for the information it may be misapplied for different applications.
Ok, I’ve implied that people are one or the other, this is not the case of course.
There are varying degrees.
But now you know you may want to give more weight, to a thought, from a person who has problems spelling.
Rather than to one who goes around correcting spellings on a forum...;-)
And doesn't have the brains to understand why he shouldn't.
