Re: what am i doing wrong?
Is it black and white, Trapper?
I'm seeing a lot of grey.
People doing a lot of stuff by habit, often not even knowing they do it, simply because they have always done it...and not stopped to ask themselves, "Why?"
Small example...a friend said to me that she loved me putting my palms parallel, 8" - 10" apart, and making a chopping motion, when I was trying to make a point.
"I can see you when you were about 12 years old."
"I do not," I said.
"Yes, you do," she replied.
Later, I discovered that I really did...often. (Blush.)
Still later, I read about 'blind spots', thought about how this applies to most people, and gained lots of insight.
I don't particularly like mirrors...mainly because we are alone in there...no comparison, and no animation...we don't see ourselves realistically in a mirror. We concentrate on flaws, which is never useful because we get more of what we DON'T want, by focussing on it.
Focus instead on your best way, the way you want to achieve, and the sub-conscious automatically serves you up everything you have ever noticed on the subject and all you need to notice.
It takes time, perhaps, and getting used to noticing, but there is no 'blame' to sabotage progress.
Like the artist said, "Rather than wait for 'inspiration', you learn that, if you want a dot of red just there, you have to PUT a dot of red just there."
Good question!
