Tetanus Shot (A Conversation)
Okay, I was talking with a friend who is a doctor's wife. We were walking through an old abandoned warehouse (don't ask) and I made a joke about being careful where we step, "Who knows when I had my last tetanus shot." She said, "Well it doesn't matter, if you step on a nail they will just give you another one anyway."
That caught my attention, so I said, "Really? Even if you already had one?" And she said, "Yes." I said, "I thought they last 10 years." She says, "Right." I asked, "So let's say, hypothetically, someone had gotten their shot 5 years ago, then they step on a nail." She says, "Yeah, they would just give you one again." I said, "What about if I had just gotten one last year, then stepped on a nail?!" She said, "Well I can't say for sure but it's quite possible they would still give you another shot."
She said a lot of people either don't really know when they had one, or they get overdue, plus they don't think the vaccine is dangerous, so if you come in with any potential "tetanus" wound they just go ahead and give the shot.
SO! I think this could help give some peace of mind to people who no longer get this vaccine. If you do step on a rusty nail, you could just go get a new shot the same day/ next day, no big deal. That is IF you want the shot at all, IF you aren't going to treat it herbally or some other natural way. I mean, I don't know about people on safari in the middle of nowhere, but for the average American who lives near allopathic healthcare, then it probably isn't an issue.
