Re: Day 14 - may go longer
Hi Splash!
Thanks for the tips. I will check out the Uncheese book, sounds great!
I've been vegetarian since 1983 (with occasional fish up until about five years ago), and it was quite a bit harder back then to even be vegetarian. Now it's a breeze with stuff like Boca Burgers! I tried 100% vegan before but hadn't really committed to it; this time I'm committed. About a month ago, I went to a book reading by Lee Hall, author of "Capers in the Churchyard," and I was convinced (it didn't take much because I was already about 95% of the way there anyway) that vegan is the way to go, not only for the animals' sake, but for humans and the environment.
I wasn't eating much dairy anyway, other than cheese (I haven't had milk or ice cream for years). But it's the ingredients that will be challenging - lots and lots of things have whey or milkfat or eggs in them. So it will require me to do more of my own cooking, which I think is healthier anyway than buying processed foods readily available.
In preparation for my 100% vegan diet, I bought big cans of both Nutritional Yeast and Yeast flakes. I also signed up with a delivery service in this area called "Door to Door Organics" who will deliver some nice (I hope!) organic fruits and veggies to me at a reasonable price.
I even got my dogs to go partially vegan (I still give them marrow bones, great for their teeth). I wasn't going to force veganism on them, but I wanted to try a vegan dog kibble to see if they would like it, and they LOVE it! They eat it straight out of the bag when with some other meat kibbles, I have to add some canned food to make it more appealing.
Take care and Happy Cleansing!
