I met Dr. Loyd in Seattle a few months back (http://www.royalrife.com). I got a demonstration with the F-Scan that he uses his practice and also sells. When he handed me the electrodes I asked him about the wet paper towels. He said they were not needed because the F-Scan electrodes were gold plated and would not transfer ions like the copper would.
