The natural pathways for elimination of CS are primarily via the lymph->skin and kidney->bladder. Average duration is 3-5 days; this is what makes CS so effective.
By hanging out in the lymph for a while it stops bacterial overgrowth there and stops viruses. The other elimination pathway is kidney->bladder and that all by itself will clean up a UTI in time by disallowing further infection.
