Fear and loathing have manifested
Like a rumbling sky cowering slate waters.
What authority has sunlight over clouds that
Swallow mountains in their quest for dominion?

I withdraw into a sanctuary of silence;
Far from peace, yet it is serene enough.
I am too exhausted and weary of this
To spend another second against the opposition.

Crush what you do not understand,
Defile that which is not easily absorbed;
After all, what are the movements of ants,
If not meaningless to entities enthused by fear?

So I've come to rest here, unfazed and shallow,
With a heartbeat so faint as to shun shame;
I’ll limit the introspection of this charred soul,
And find only surrender at the heart of my discretion.
