Now that it's been put into a proper context, most of us came to call America home by way of immigrant stock...... so most of us are really immigrants, if you really think about it....but we don't want to go there......lets not talk about THAT......surely there is a more appropriately fluffy topic to discuss and divert our focus......who won the big TGD game?.....wasn't Macy's parade just grand?....perhaps we can dissect the virtues of Butterball versus Honeybaked gracing one's table of giving thanks....certainly there is something more current, more commercial, and lets hope just a bit more warm and fuzzy to ease our heavy minds from the weight of our trivial history. It's the merging of these kinds of realities that's helped to make our "thanksgiving" the cliche it's largely become. In the back of the mind, at least for those that still care to have one, is the unspoken thought of giving thanks that our government has not, yet, gone the same way with we the immigrant people that it did all those years ago with the nation of people native to this land.... but they the government of the people and for the people are slowly and gradually gaining on we the people. The real irony here is that it was the same immigrant stock that stood by it's government then. Unknowingly or not, it's the same immigrant stock that stands by it's own un-doing by standing by and behind the same government undoing us today. Every now and then they cook up a trial baloon to float before us.....just to serve as a firm reminder, you see. Waco comes to mind, as does Dallas, '63, but there are many others too.....if you really think about it. Tweet
