Re: WAY too skinny...
Um...the point is that this young woman you
find attractive DIED, IS dead, because there
seems to be a standard that says people like
this are attractive and that people at a
normal weight are overweight. Can you understand
the disparity there?? It was Jamie Lee Curtis
years ago who broke the silence of how much
work is done in Photoshop to alter the
appearance of actresses so that they appear
thinner than they really are. In the meantime
a culture was invigorated that put these young
women on pedastals and set an unrealistic
standard for most women.
My own daughter, who did not have low self-
esteem and did not come from a troubled home
worked hard to attain this unrealistic standard.
It did not matter what we said, she decided not
to believe us, especially, because we were her
parents. She said, you would love me no matter
what. She was 5 foot 9 & 1/2
inches and a size
O. It was almost a tragedy and took the most
delicate of negotiations, in a loving way, and
LUCK to bring her back from the edge. Now, she
is a size 6 and really beautiful and healthy.
I, for one, am glad that this problem is being
highlighted again and that models are now being
told, you need to put on some weight. Too many
are in the closet with eating disorders and
secretly yearn to have normalcy in their lives.
I am very sad that this young woman had to die
though...to keep up appearances...
be happy, be well,
Zoe
