A Chanel spokesperson said that anorexia was a social problem: “People shouldn’t whip up a false controversy. The fashion world is not responsible for anorexia.”
That upsets me so much. I've suffered from anorexia, it's a disease I still battle. Not, it's not 100% to blame on the fashion industry, but they do play a major role. When you combine a vulnerable person with low self-esteem and/or a bad home environment, along with the fashion industry's encouragement of super-thin model (the "ideal" according to them), then you've created a recipe for disaster. The fashion industries represents unattainable idealologies that do nothing but hurt people for the sake of their "art".
Tell me, do we really all have to be a size 0 or a size 2 to be beautiful and worthy of wearing nice things and being socially accepted?
