Well water can be such a crap shoot, you never know what you are going to get. My grandparents had a well on their old farm that had the best water I ever had. We had to use a bucket to get it, but that water sure was a treat. Still, within a few miles of that old well I have neighbors who have iron water, sulfur water, and water impregnated with natural gas coming out of their wells. I have a good spring, but I've written in past posts about my problems with that ultra hard water that is practically liquid rock. Now, at least here in the Ozark Mountains, we have problems with animal waste from chicken and turkey houses getting into the water supply. I know people who actually dump their bathroom waste into creeks running through their property. Most of these creeks eventually wind up flowing into Beaver Lake, the source of municipal and rural water in this part of the state. Pure water is such a precious commodity, I will not drink anything but home distilled water; but bathing and washing clothes still presents a challenge for most of us. How sad our culture has spoiled what should be a birthright for all of us-pure, clean, safe water.
