Re: What colon cleanse do I need?
I wonder if some attitudes/feelings don't actually CAUSE bowel difficulties.)
In her book "Heal Your Body", Louise Hay says:
Bowel Problems-cause: "Fear of letting go of the old and no longer needed."
The affirmation: "I freely and easily release the old and joyously welcome the new."
Constipation-causes: "Refusing to release old ideas. Stuck in the past. Sometimes stinginess"
The affirmation: "As I release the past, the new, the fresh and the vital enter. I allow life to flow through me"
I think the idea of eating smaller amounts more often is a good one. I will try that myself. One big salad can mess me up for days. I have poor peristalsis due to my nerve damage, but I don't want to get hooked on stimulant laxatives, even if they are herbal.
Anything that supports the liver and bile flow will ultimately improve bowel function. If dry stools are a problem you can take magnesium oxide tablets several times a day. My old Naturopath's method was to "take them 'til you squirt, then back off a little" In other words see how much mag oxide it takes to give you liquid stools, then back down to where you just have comfortable BMs. Magnesium Oxide is much less expensive than the Magnesium peroxide products like
Oxypowder . Only about 4% of the magnesium oxide is absorbed by the body, the rest goes into the colon where it draws fluid into the bowel.
Slippery Elm or Aloe Vera are good lubricants for the bowel, and of course, plenty of fresh pure water is essential.
