Re: My headaches just wont go away
What is your average BP, both before and after starting medication? Do you tend to have sudden spikes when your PB rises? Also, are you drinking plenty of water. How about minerals? Did your doctor give you any advice on whether or not you need to take or avoid mineral supplements?
The reason I ask this is I nearly died during the same time period I wrote about when the blood pressure medications I was on caused a severe electrolyte imbalance. To be fair to the doctor, I was hit with a bad stomach flu with vomiting and diarrhea, about the same time he tried me out on yet another combination of medicines. I was very weak, had severe headaches and eventually blackouts. When I fainted at work I was rushed to the clinic (no hospital for over 30 miles around here)and the doctor ordered me to get to a hospital immediately. It turns out I was so low in potassium that I was going into heart failure. My blood pressure was something like 65/45 when it was first tested. I spent a day and a night with an IV in one arm and a monitor on the other. Thirty six hours after fainting, I felt better than I had in months (then the doctors started experimenting with BP meds again)
I am not writing this to scare you, but to warn that problems can arise that need close monitoring. I was too shy and backward to even think of questioning the doctor, but I knew something was wrong even when he refused to take me seriously. Please take care of yourself and continue to seek answers. I am sorry I can't help you.
