No, it really wouldn't be possible to hear the full story since it was years ago and I've lost touch with that friend. Best I can recall, the man almost died from the stuff they had to use to kill the parasites. I don't think they could do surgery or anything like that. They had to use something that would kill them inside the brain, which was risky.

I'm sorry I don't recall any more than that but I do remember it because it was the first time I had any idea that this was possible. Until then, I assumed parasites were something that only affected the colon.

After that, I read about parasites in the heart, brain and muscles. It is truly disgusting to me but I guess it's no different than the way the rest of nature operates. Seems like something is always living off something else in nature, I guess we aren't as far removed from that as we'd like to be, as humans.
