Re: What I find to be really annoying...
Yeah, I don't give to any of those type things. Cancer, AIDS/HIV, Research, Diabetes, SARS, etc. I prefer to give money to things like orphanages, or religious organizations that help out in disaster relief. If they are doing something productive, like digging a well in Africa, and it happens to be benefitting people with AIDS there, I can live with that. Water is important for everyone.
I will donate money sometimes for things like helping fund a liver transplant on a child. There's really nothing else they can do - sad situations like that.
Now don't get the impression we're talking a lot of money here - I've never really had a job. But when I do get a job, I will plan out my donations and give significantly to a few. I'm not the type to toss out $1 here and $5 there.
I don't have to explain myself to anyone. If I did, I'd just say that there are a lot of important causes and I've already given to several of them.
It is annoying that people keep giving and hoping and waiting for a "cure" - from the pharmaceutical companies. Anything else? "Oh, that's just quackery."
