Re: Experiences using Grossan Hydro Pulse nasal irrigator
Well, Grossan finally sent us yet another machine...this is #3. And we decided to keep it in the box and continue to use the leaky #1 machine which we were not required to send back. It still leaks all over the counter, as did machine #2. After making a lot of phone calls and speaking to a technician at the "other" company, we concluded that the Oratec machine is the identical machine but marketed as an oral irrigator instead of nasal irrigatore.,.. at about half the cost.
Rinoflow is an interesting, albeit expensive option. We may get one just to try it out. If it proves to be more durable, then it's a good investment.
My wife continues to have a good experience using the nasal irrigation technique. Sorry to hear that your experience was troublesome.
I think what really kills the Grossan machines is the use of cholorox to disinfect the machine. Cholorox is a brutally strong chemical and probably just ravages the seals of the machine. Not sure why Grossan recommends using dilute Clorox to clean the machine but I've not talked to anyone else who though that was a good idea. Also if the salt and or baking soda isn't thoroughly cleaned out of the system after use, it can plug everything up and that can lead to leaking I guess. It's important to use quite warm water to flush out the machine after each use... at least that's our theory. Since we're still using the leaky machine, we haven't actually had a new machine in use to test our theory :-)
