Ever hear of "THE KEEPER" it is a small cup shaped product that feels like flexible rubber and it's made from tree sap. I have been using it for about 6 years. It has it's ups & downs...the positive is no wasting of paper products each month (well slightly)...you get to put your blood back on the earth or flush if that matters to you...in ancient times women used to go to the lodge to sit together and bleed on the earth. You can have intercourse with it inside of you and your blood will not make a mess nor will it move out of place...this may sound strange but I've done it countless times. Plus it is more comfortable than a tampon which for me can feel drying & irritating.
Negative: It takes getting used to especially in public places...often you need to bring a wet towel in the wash room because when you take it out to empty some blood may get on your hands. Depending on the heaviness of your flow it will need to be changed more the 1st couple days less as you eliminate. I still purchase the thinnnest panti liner in case the cup is full & I don't catch it...so as to keep things orderly...so some paper waste but it seems like less...I only do this the 1st 2 days when I'm flowing heavier.
Some of you may be grossed out by this post but I thought I would mention the keeper because it has been a wonderful way to deal with my monthly gift.
