Indeed...

When a dog is healthy they are low maintenance and low cost to take care of. But when they come down with a serious illness the cost can be extremely high. In the past year I spent quite a sum of money per Chemotherapy for Lymphoma on my 11 yr old Daisy dog, and yes that does means thousands of dollars. The cost meant nothing to me vs the additional year of high quality life she obtained. It was a very special year.

Whether I would spend so profusely on my two new puppies if either came down in the near future with a serious illness- I just don't know. But maybe 10 years from now...
