Re: Red skin on dog-chewing paws

Good info. She sounds very cute.

If there is any way to not give her any more vaccines...that would be a good to do. Vaccinosis is a debated issue, but I believe it can be a cause of bad things to animals. The challenge with this are the laws that say animals must be vaccinated.

Otherwise I would highly suggest that you think about switching to a raw food diet. Since she is a smaller dog, she won't eat as much as a larger dog and it will be quite easy. I feed what is called the "raw food prey model" diet to my dogs. I literally overnight switched them from kibble to raw meats and I started with chicken. I gave them a wing at first as a test and then introduced them all the other parts. They eat the bones and all and absolutely love it. Within one week they no longer had a doggy smell, no dog breath, and their coats were soft and gorgeous. They eat a variety of meats, including organ meats and fish. They get a few veggies here and there. No grains whatsoever. It is so easy to feed them this way. I just go to the store and buy the chicken and meats (human grade) and feed it to them. I freeze it, thaw and feed. Easy to do.

There are many books and websites, blogs and yahoo groups that talk about feeding raw to dogs (and cats).

You will be amazed at how quickly her health will change for the better if you can switch her to raw.

In the meantime you could try a few things. Continue feeding the apple cidar vinegar. You can also use it as a rinse on her paws. You can try to feed aloe vera juice (1 tbsp per 20 pounds) per day. Apply cool chamomile tea to the paws. You could try to apply colliodal silver to her paws. You can even apply a Sea Salt water solution to her paws.

Also just to help her mentally to deal with it, you could give her some drops of Resuce Remedy Bach Flower Essences.

Otherwise pray for it to cool down soon.

I sure hope she gets better fast.

Critterkids.
