I'm pretty sure the sunfood diet is just a fancy name for a rawfood diet (but i'm not positive since I haven't delved too far into the book yet).
The purpose for starting the fast was to feel better because I was feeling really ucky about myself. I was overeating and sort of confused about life (relationship stuff). I actually had to force myself to start because I really didn't want to. Now I'm feeling a lot better. I guess I just want to keep feeling good and go into good eating habits when I start eating again.
As for raw foods... I'm not sure I'll be 100%, but I'll try to be at least 75%. They are really healthy :D
