Coffee Alternatives
Hey CZers! Need some suggestions.
What are some coffee alternatives for me to drink in the morning? The main reason I drink coffee (organic coffee and use almond milk rather than reg milk) is so I could have a bowel movement. I've tried hot teas (chamomile, etc) but for me, it just doesn't work like coffee does. So basically, I'm using the coffee to have a "laxative" effect and it works great. Second reason is that I love the taste, however, if I find a good alternative then it really won't bug me not to drink it. I stopped for a few days last week and had a dull headache but I know that's a side effect from stopping.
Here is the other thing: I know that not drinking it will also help with my stomach upset. My chiro (who is very organic-holistic, etc) said that one cup is okay but not to exceed that amount. I could definitely do without it. I really want this stomach upset(GERD)to go away and know that coffee is not helping.
Several questions:
1)Am I getting the laxative effect from the caffeine or because it's a hot beverage?
2)Are there other CZers that use or have used coffee as a laxative and what has been the alternative?
