Re: Nicole - Kelp in Australia is available

I live in Australia, and just found some Australian kelp meal, called Golden Kelp. Its from Narooma, southern NSW. Its pretty coarse, but I add it to soups etc, and also take it with a little hot water, which causes the kelp meal to thicken and makes it easier to go down. I bought mine from Macro Wholefoods, but I'm sure I've seen it at Mr Vitamins as well. Considering the southern ocean is far cleaner than the northern hemisphere oceans/seas, and kelp is a very efficient sponge for contaminants, I would hazard a guess that our kelp is just as good, if not better than Norweigen kelp. you can also buy some kelp products from King Island, and that would have to be some of the cleanest waters you are likely to find anywhere in the world. Probably, unfortunately for the state of things, some of the last.
