Scared to become raw b/c of too much misinformation - any advice?

Hi everyone,
I've been researching a raw/living vegan diet for a few months now. I was just finishing the second Fit For Life book when I decided to see if Harvey and Marilyn have provided any updated information since these books came out in the 80's. To my surprise and disappointment, I found out that neither are vegetarian anymore.

Then I came across this article http://rawvegans.tribe.net/thread/5fe4a04d-2de4-44e1-bf12-704a78f5ef46 which not only has more examples of raw living proponents NOT practicing what they preach, but some very scary information about raw vegans dying young and cooked food vegans suffering of degenerative brain diseases. There is mention of B12 and EPA deficiencies. This is very scary news to me, since I am vegan.

My problem is that I keep reading raw vegan information that I feel is not based on convincing data/research. It seems to all be "try it and see for yourself" or "take it from me, it works!" The raw vegan movement has been around for a while now, so where are all the health studies on the topic?

This lack of information has led me to be fearful of proceeding with this. In fact, that last article (above link) scared me so much that I'm reconsidering the whole vegan thing (sadly) and wonder if I should be consuming raw organic fermented dairy (yogurt and kefir) and organic eggs to ensure that I'm getting balanced nutrition.

I don't want to be popping multivitamins and omega pills all my life. I want a diet that is complete and provides all the required nutrition without requiring supplements. In my opinion, a diet requiring supplements is unnatural and does not appeal to me. I want to get everything out of real, whole foods in their natrual state, not manufactured items coming from plastic bottles.

So, with that in mind, does anyone have any real information about whether a raw vegan diet is complete and balanced? If not, then what are your suggestions regarding incorporating raw dairy to be completely balanced

Your opinions about this will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance
