Re: Question about Probiotics and Antifungal/Antibacterials

I am cured of candida, and I can eat anything without going into relapse. However, I also believe that by continuing w/poor eating habits, IE: processed/refined foods, you are simply inviting back the same circumstances that allowed and encouraged the overgrowth to begin with. I adhere to a no processed Sugar diet. Mostly natural, unprocessed food diet to not only maintain my weightloss, but to keep my Sugar addiction under control, and be healthier. People can fool themselves into believing that they are cured and can go back to old eating habits and I wish them luck. It is like going on a diet to lose weight, reaching your goal and then gaining it all back again because they went back to old ways of eating. Sugar for me is like a drug, if you start craving something, it’s a sign of larger issues….and this is how I have resolved mine.
All I am offering is the advice that for those of you who suffer from recurrent candida, grapefruit seed extract was the answer for me. And it is my attempt in trying to save others the frustration and waste of their hard-earned money, going to doctors that primarily just want to get your money.
Yes, I also take a number of other supplements to sustain healthy bowels. Probiotic acidophilus, phyllium seed, as needed. And a number of other herbals etc to help my immune system and general overall health. The information is out there, all one has to do is look for , learn and be realistic, use some common sense. Doctor’s do not have all the answers. What may work for one may not for another. But the key is in sugar consumption and if you believe otherwise you will eventually wind up at square one.
I have tried all kinds of cleanses, and anything else that promised to get rid of candida overgrowth, but was not enough. Because sugar not only compromises your immune system-weakening it so it can no longer control yeast growth, sugar also feeds the candida, it is this combination of circumstances that causes systemic candida. In the end it was diet and supplements that strengthened my immune system and the grapefruit seed that kept it under control until my own body could do that job for me. I am able to eat sugar on a once in a while basis but not as a normal staple of my diet, because I choose not to invite this villain back into my everyday life, to be craving free.
Today I can say that I am cured and hope for the same for all others that battle with this condition.
Grapefruit seed extract is an antifungal.
