Re: The Question of Homosexuality and Religion
Some of you say you believe that “God created you”. Most of you say you were born gay. Both statements have some truth in them. God certainly is our Creator, and yes even being “born gay” might have some truth in it. But don't you know that pedophiles, murderers, thieves, adulterers and almost all others of that catagory say “I was born that way”? “I can't help it”. “It's not my fault”. They all say that so the responsibility is off their shoulders.
Now I'm going to quote from a book that some put little value in, but before you condem it take a look at what it says. It had some important answers to some hard questions. If anyone has any better answers than the Bible I'd like to know them.
The simple truth according to the Bible is, we were all born into sin: “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned” Romans 5:12. But don't say it's not my fault just yet. Every one of us has the choice to sin or not. Some, rather than choose righteousness, choose to be thieves, or liars, murderers, or child molesters, adulterers, or fornicators (sex outside of marriage), and yes some choose to be homosexuals. It's all choice, and it's all sin, and it's all evil. You choose whether you want to sin or not and even what kind of sin you want to do. Just knowing that we really do have choices explains the answers to some of life's questions.
Some try to convience everyone (including their self) that they are close to God when they practice homosexuality or any other sin, they're not. Sin separates us from God no matter what kind it is. “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil”. Joh 3:19
And don't try to blame God for you giving into temptations of homosexuality or any other evil. Because “Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man” James 1:13
Practicing any sin makes you a slave to that sin, most homosexuals know that and in all honesty want out, but they don't know how. “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?” Romans 6:16 “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.” James 1:15
The question is do you want to be a slave to sin and all that goes with it, or a slave to righteousness and all that goes with it? “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23
The reason most people hate the Bible, and don't like to read to read it is because it's a mirror of who they really are, and they don't want to be reminded by seeing the truth. But if you or I read the Bible asking God the author for help to keep us from sinning, he will give it. God knows what is best for us. If you don't believe it, look around you. Nearly every misery is cause from disobeying God's Laws. If we all only kept the two laws that Jesus gave, our world would be a lot closer to heaven........ It's our choice.
