Re: Eczema

Thank you, so much! That information was very helpful, and made a lot of sense. I only need clarification as to the third item for treatment that you listed: foreign (identification & removal of the allergen/irritant).

There are probably many toxins in my body and outside (that I come in contact with, on a daily basis) - that is why I do cleanses/detoxes (Master Cleanse, Richard Schultz's Detox, etc.) every 3-4 months. But, the last time I did a cleanse, the eczema appeared on my hands, during the cleanse. I decided to do an experiment, and use the Betamethasone 'during' my cleanse, to trick/teach my body a new/different pattern. It cleared up, but returned after I completed the cleanse. I refused to use the Betamethasone prescription, and the eczema got worse and worse. I let it go for about 3-4 weeks, and it would not go away. I couldn't put up with it anymore, and decided to use this prescription synthethic Vitamin D analog - 'calcipotriene' (Dovonex brand name) that I had intentionally forgotten about. It seemed to help a little, but didn't do the job. So, after a few days, I applied the Betamethasone...NOT the best idea! My skin burned! The top layer of skin literally burned off, because of the chemical reaction between the two medications.

Well, I applied aloe vera and Aveeno hand lotion to soothe and heal the dry/peeling skin. Finally, when the top layer of skin renewed, I noticed that the eczema wasn't returning in the same pattern, if at all - this just happened recently, by the way. There are a couple of small patches that are itching, and get inflamed if I scratch them, but instead of applying Betamethasone, I've been applying this Chinese anti-fungal cream that I was given by my acupuncturist. It seems to be helping.

Over the past couple of months, as I stated in my first posting on this site, I've been trying all sorts of things: acupuncture, drinking Chinese herbs, taking Humic/Fulvic Acid tablets (which have anti-viral properties), taking 'Oregacillin' (a natural antibiotic), and that Chinese Piyanping anti-fungal cream (miconazole). I've even started using Bach's flower essences, to help balance my body's 'vibrations' (certain flowers help treat and re-balance certain emotional states of being). I've come to realize that the eczema is also brought on by emotional issues. The way that it appears on my body - location and formation vary, depending on food intake, products used, and heavy emotional situations.

I have definitely come to realize that eczema is the body's way of ridding itself of toxins. I notice the skin eruptions after I eat something that my body didn't like. I know that I need to eat healthier and take vitamins/minerals and use herbal supplements. I also notice a difference when I exercise and/or dance - physical activity really helps. I also try and stay away from products that my body doesn't like. I've been using Dove soap, since I was a child, and my body seems to like it. But certain lotions do irritate my skin. I am going to look into Burt's Bees Products. I've been using Kiehl's recently, and it seems to be ok, but the Aveeno seems to be better.

Regarding chlorine/fluoride - I have a filter on my shower, but not on my sinks. I use gloves when I do dishes, etc., but expose my skin when I wash in the bathroom sink. I stay away from swimming pools. I don't even buy toothpaste that contains fluoride.

So what do you think about the Miconazole?

And that third area that needs to be treated - 'foreign'? I know that I need to continue being aware of my environment, and to what my body is exposed. But what else do you suggest for this third item? I try to identify as much as I can, and remove the allergen/irritant whenever possible. I'm just not sure if I know what they all are, just yet. I guess time will tell - hopefully sooner than later.

Thanks again! :)
