Unfortunately, though I think you're right. I think my efforts are in vain here. I realize I'm battling a major uphill battle and I certainly don't believe I'm going to change anyone's mind. But actually I do have faith in people. I actually believe that most people who visit this board are probably very charming, likeable people who I could get along with just fine in real life....(of course we wouldn't be discussing abortion!)

In my line of work I meet alot of new people. One of the things I've learned is that if you look at someone you just met and realize that they are human -- just like you -- (with anxieties, painful emotions, fears, health issues, money issues, love issues) that you're better equiped to deal with that person on a one-on-one basis. It's amazing how beneficial it is to have empathy for one's situation.

It's like if I have an arguement with my wife.....it's amazing how much shorter the arguement will be if you simply say, "You know what, I KNOW where you're coming from...I UNDERSTAND what you're trying to say...You're RIGHT to think this way...etc) The thing about abortion is nobody seems to want to understand the other side....and even if they do understand it, they often don't want to admit it. But that's probably the key to this whole thing -- to just lay it all out on the table, be honest, and learn to co-exist with each other with the parameters that are given. S
