You say you'd rather have a gay kid than someone who is anti-gay. But why do you have to refer to someone as "anti-gay" just because he or she opposes gay rights? Just because someone believes that gays shouldn't be allowed to marry doesn't necessarily mean they hate gays. One is a political opinion, the other is a personal opinion.

Personally I like most gay people....However, I do not agree with their attempt to change the meaning of the word "marriage." It would be like if you had a family member who was misbehaving; you wouldn't hate that person for their misbehavior, you'd just simply not approve of their actions.

Conservatives often unfairly get accused hating various groups of people because they disapprove of their lifestyles...ie blacks, homosexuals...when this is not the case at all with most of us.
